History of the group

The ASHRAE UK Midlands Section is the first ASHRAE group in the UK. Works to form the group has started since 2014, and the new Section was officially inaugurated on 26th May, 2015, at Loughborough University. Professor Dennis Loveday was installed as the first president of the Section. Below is a timeline marking the history of the group.

2014-2015

  • 12 Nov 2014 - Decision to form the UK Midlands Section with members signatures collected. This was recorded in ASHREA's ENewsletts
  • 26 May 2015 - the Section was officially inaugurated

2015-2016

  • 22 Sep 2015 - Committee meeting at Loughborough. Stephen Gill was duly elected as President, Eddie Murphy as vice President

  • 19 Jan 2016 - Committee meeting as Loughborough. Treasurer (Alan Logan) and Secretary (Yi Zhang) were appointed

  • 16-18 Feb 2016 - ASHRAE UKML took part in the biannual ACR Show at NEC, Birmingham

  • 26 Apr 2016 - Committee meeting and evening talk at Loughborough. Eddie Murphy gave a paper on post occupancy evaluation. The original flyer and video recording are available.

  • 14 Jun 2016 - ASHRAE UKML organized evening seminar in association with a number of regional societies. Dr Andy Pearson, Fellow ASHRAE, gave a talk on centralized heatpump systems at Birmingham University. Flyer and Webinar recording are available.

2016-2017

  • 01 Jul 2016 - Eddie Murphy took over as the President of the UK Midlands Section, Mick Holland as vice President.
