A solution is to have the equipment continuously monitored remotely by specialist software which alerts the operator to poor performance. This talk provides an in-depth understanding of equipment behaviour and enables targeted maintenance activities to achieve the best energy efficiency. </WRAP> <WRAP box third column> {{ ::2018-calendar-header3.png?nolink |}} **7 February 2018** - Charnwood Brewery, Loughborough === Tour and Beer Tasting === Our ASHRAE Student Branch organised a social/fundraising event in Charnwood Brewery (https://www.charnwoodbrewery.co.uk/), including a tour of the brewery, beer tasting, and snacks. {{ ::beer1.png?nolink&300 |}} </WRAP> <WRAP box third column> {{ ::2018-calendar-header3.png?nolink |}} **16 January 2018** - De Montfort University === Energy Efficient Buildings and the Role of Building Information Modelling (BIM) === ASHRAE UK Midlands Chapter and Energy Institute East Midlands welcome you to this joint event on how Building Information Modelling can help to narrow the ‘performance gap’ between predictions of building energy use and the reality in practice, given by Dr Painter of De Montfort University and Mr Alex Mitchell of Pick Everard. The speakers will explain how building designers use computer models to predict energy use, the typical sources of inaccuracy of some of these models and how BIM can help to remedy these. </WRAP> <WRAP box third column> {{ ::cal-2017-450px-n.png?nolink |}} **15 Nov 2017** - Loughborough University === Zero Carbon Buildings Evening === ASHRAE UK Midlands Chapter and Energy Institute East Midlands organized this joint event with two talks: "//Design and operation of zero carbon GlaxoSmithKline Elipta Compliance Building//" by **Dr Rosi Fieldson**, Sustainability Manager, Simons Group, and "Designing zero carbon buildings using dynamic simulation methods – a book launch" by **Prof Lubo Jankovic**, Director, Zero Carbon Lab, Birmingham City University. {{ :events:zero_carbon_buildings_evening.pdf ||Download brochure}} This event is sponsored by [[https://www.simonsgroup.com/|Simons Group]] </WRAP> <WRAP box third column> {{ ::cal-2017-450px-n.png?nolink |}} **10 Oct 2017** - Loughborough University === ASHRAE Presidential Lecture === "//The influence of occupant behaviour on indoor environment and energy use in buildings//" by **Professor Bjarne W.
